Although we welcome interaction with all customers, we must highlight that, regrettably, we cannot insure 16‑year‑olds to drive microcars /quadricycles such as the Citroën Ami and model ranges of Funtech / Qpod, Microcar, Reliant or similar. This is because we do not currently have an insurer on our panel willing to provide quotations for drivers aged 16 on these vehicles and in respect of the Ami and Qpod we are, at the moment, not offering quotations at all.
We are familiar with these vehicles and, as a general rule of thumb, find that our premiums tend to be most competitive for those aged at least 25 and above. Similarly, if you have a motorcyle licence and wish to drive one of these vehicles we may be able to help. That said, unless your vehicle is a classic car, such as a Reliant, or perhaps a specialist vehicle, we tend to do better if you have some car no claims bonus available (perhaps accumulated having driven one of these vehicles for a few years). Maybe one day we will be able to help with the numerous enquiries we continue to receive from and about 16 year old drivers but until that time thought it would be helpful to clarify our position.
